Haunted Mansion is a cultural landmark within the Disney parks, always has long line ups any time of the year, this ride is on the top of my list for sure and I am sure with many Disney fans!
Next up on the #DisneyDinnerParty series is the Haunted Mansion! Not only do movies have a fan following, but some ride ride have a cult following, so I envisioned this set up after the ride, and not the movie. Please join us Foolish Mortals!
For our focal point I used a piece I already had that reminded me of the Haunted Mansion, a 6 tea light candle holder! You can add something similar to the centre to tie in the theme. Lets dive into this setup !
“Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host, your ghost host. Kindly step all the way in please, and make room for everyone. There’s no turning back now. Our tour begins here in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state.”
The Set Up
This set up was so much fun to put together, as things you did not know you can find at different stores that fit perfectly into the Haunted Mansion theme! I challenged myself to put these dinner parties together without any Disney park memorabilia or anything from the Disney stores as not everyone can get to one (as all the Canadian Disney Stores closed a few weeks ago so our only option is online now).
Look at the photo above and let me know all the details you can find from the ride!
The Details
As always, its the small details that can bring together a theme, for this one I will point out all the details that many fans would pick out! Remember most of the items on this table I can use for multiple dinner parties and from the dollar store, allowing me to host multiple times on a budget!
Above, I saw a inspiration photo online saying to add small bits of food colouring in people drinks to make them look gross or murky, which I did! It came out looking like the pipes in the haunted mansion have not been used in hundreds of years, great little addition.
Madame Leota
You cannot have a Haunted Mansion diner party without the iconic Madame Leota, there is also many different ways to have her attend, I chose a halloween prop I have had from years past to bring a tribute to her at the head of our table, pardon the pun. I am sure you can look up a great DIY to have the full real looking Madame there, but be careful, this might scare your guests!
Floral
The floral I added was very simple, you can always add more if you please, but it adds a bit of romance to the table and some inspiration from the dead bride in the attic. The colours are very fall and halloween but you can add some black floral as well to add some death to the table.
Candles
Yes, I love candles, the ambiance they add is unmatched. I found 2 Candelabras at the thrift store that reminded me of the mansion right away, it was old and a bit stained, the lady at cash said I can polish it up nice, and I said absolutely not as it will fit on the table perfectly. Using the black candles in this set up was a must to bring in some depth of colour, in addition to the tea lights, this brought some height across the middle of the table.
Little Details
Always add little details to any set up! These are the ones your guests will talk about all night, and it makes you look more creative! On top of the usual details like cob webs on everything and small bugs to show the age of the mansion I found some gold picture frame napkin holders that you can add black and white photos of your guests! This will show them where to sit and its a great gift them to take home!
I found these plastic black and white pictures at the dollar store that change to zombies, and added these in the background of the room to tie in the theme.
Also the skeleton lamps, which came from Home Depot last season, add that easter egg for the hitchhiking ghosts.
I grabbed a small package of rubber bats that are on some of the candles and some on the walls surrounding the room (not pictured), add lots of cob webs as the Haunted Mansion is not well maintained!
